STREAMNET DATA STORE

Add Your Data Set

Use our Data Publishing Service to add your data set to the Data Store.

The StreamNet Data Store is a searchable archive of data sets related to fish and other aquatic resources that are not of the specific data types included in the main StreamNet database. These data sets come from many different sources and are provided for download in their original formats. To add your own data set to the Data Store, use our Data Publishing Service.

StreamNet did not participate in creation of most of these data sets, and we are not able to answer questions about those we did not help develop. For questions about the data sets available from this page, please contact the originator of the particular data set.

To search the Data Store, enter key words, project numbers, species, methods, etc. into the search box below and click "Search".

Genetic run of PIT-tagged Snake River fall Chinook salmon (1992-2023)

Data Categories Genetic origin
Dates of Data 1992 TO 2023
Data Set Status In work
Data Set Update Schedule Annually
Date Data Set Published on StreamNet Data Store 04-10-2024
Project Name & Number 1991-029-00
Purpose of Data Set Each year, staff of the USGS PIT tag presumably fall Chinook salmon in Hells Canyon on the Snake River. However, there is the chance that some subyearling spring/summer Chinook salmon are present in the population and hence fish collections. The presence of spring/summer in our PIT-tag would bias inferences made about the fall chinook population. Since 1992, random samples of fin tissue are collected each year and analyzed to determine the proportions of fall and spring/summer Chinook salmon in the fish that are PIT tagged. This information can then be used to correct the actual number of fall chinook salmon that are PIT tagged each year.
