STREAMNET DATA STORE

Add Your Data Set

Use our Data Publishing Service to add your data set to the Data Store.

The StreamNet Data Store is a searchable archive of data sets related to fish and other aquatic resources that are not of the specific data types included in the main StreamNet database. These data sets come from many different sources and are provided for download in their original formats. To add your own data set to the Data Store, use our Data Publishing Service.

StreamNet did not participate in creation of most of these data sets, and we are not able to answer questions about those we did not help develop. For questions about the data sets available from this page, please contact the originator of the particular data set.

To search the Data Store, enter key words, project numbers, species, methods, etc. into the search box below and click "Search".

Summary / Abstract Water temperature data have not been extensively developed by StreamNet. The data available here are from two limited-duration projects. While these data are not complete or exhaustive for the Northwest, we are making them available because they may be useful for parts of the region.

The first resource is a data set in a prototype database from a pilot project which StreamNet undertook in fiscal year 1999. In this project we compiled water temperature data from the USGS state offices in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. These data are from the USGS gauging stations equipped with temperature sensors, and are primarily from large rivers in these three states. These data were available as either instantaneous measurements or as daily summary data. In addition to USGS data, we obtained instantaneous water temperature data from the Nez Perce (Idaho), Payette (Idaho), and Wallowa-Whitman (Oregon) National Forests. These data are primarily from smaller streams. The locations of all sample sites were tied to the 1:100,000 scale hydrography GIS layer maintained by StreamNet. For the instantaneous data, daily summary data were calculated (such as maximum, minimum, mean, standard deviation, residuals, 7-day moving mean, N). For all data, annual summary data were calculated (such as date range of measures, maximum, minimum, maximum 7-day moving mean). We plan to add these data to the StreamNet query system in the future. At this time, they can be downloaded here (45 MB download) in MS-Access97 format (zipped). The database is designed so that queries can be run on the annual summary data, daily summary data, or instantaneous data. If you would like these data in a different format or would like help in using this file, please contact Michael Banach by e-mail at mike_banach@psmfc.org or by phone at 503-595-3100.

The second water temperature resource available here, also developed in fiscal year 1999, is simply a list of people who can serve as sources for water temperature data, and the locations for which they have data. This list is available in the 45 MB download mentioned in the previous paragraph.

Besides the temperature data sources listed in #2, another listing of contacts is the EPA Region 10 In-Stream Temperature Data Web Site, at http://www.epa.gov/Region10/data/sdata/sdata.htm. Unfortunately, as of August 2003 that web site is no longer being updated.
