STREAMNET DATA STORE

Add Your Data Set

Use our Data Publishing Service to add your data set to the Data Store.

The StreamNet Data Store is a searchable archive of data sets related to fish and other aquatic resources that are not of the specific data types included in the main StreamNet database. These data sets come from many different sources and are provided for download in their original formats. To add your own data set to the Data Store, use our Data Publishing Service.

StreamNet did not participate in creation of most of these data sets, and we are not able to answer questions about those we did not help develop. For questions about the data sets available from this page, please contact the originator of the particular data set.

To search the Data Store, enter key words, project numbers, species, methods, etc. into the search box below and click "Search".

Project Name & Number 1991-029-00
Purpose of Data Set The U.S. Geological Survey began monitoring the incidence of GBT in native, nonsalmonids below Snake and Columbia river dams beginning in 2021. Concern was raised over using backpack electrofishing to collect fish because it was contended that it might contribute to GBT in sculpin since those fish can respire for short periods of time through their skin. A laboratory experiment was conducted to test this hypothesis.
Summary / Abstract This contains data obtained from experiments examining the effects of backpack electrofishing on gas bubble trauma (GBT) development in prickly and reticulate sculpins. Sculpins were exposed to various levels of total dissolved gas in the laboratory then subjected to either 5-second electroshock or sham treatments. Fish were examined and photographed before and after treatment to quantify changes in the incidence of GBT.
